London is officially happening again! It seems everyone wants to work here again and the big excitement of Fashion Week was that Vivienne Westwood, one of our most prolific designers, was going to be showing in London after nearly 10 years. So imagine my excitement at being asked to do the nails for this show! During a star studded evening, we were asked to make the girls’ (and one boy’s) nails look perfect and beautiful so as not to clash with the dramatic gothy Marlene Dietrich make-up and BIG hair. As always Sally Hansen products came in super handy for models such as Lily Donaldson, Coco Rochas, Daisy Lowe and Jaime Winston who really needed some tlc on their nails, after 4 or 5 days of continual polish on and off. We used a lot of Diamond Cuticle Cream to nourish the cuticles alongside what is becoming a cult product amongst those in the know, Age Correct Strength, as it gives such a beautiful finish and helps the nails grow stronger.
At the other end of the fashion scale, I was thrilled to be asked by Sam Ranger from POP magazine to do nails for House of Holland. Known for his slogan T-shirts and friendship with top model Agyness Deyn, it was Henry Holland’s first solo collection and I had been given a mission to create a tartan nail to match the violet, yellow, green and black from the collection. The point was to make a feature out of the nails and the tartan.
